Soon after moving into their Medford facility, Canine Companions Northeast Training Center realized they needed to figure out a way to lower their energy bill of almost $25K a month. Fast-forward to 2022 and five lighting projects later, Canine Companions understands the benefit of utilizing the PSEG Long Island Commercial Efficiency programs with the goal of reducing their energy costs.

The Challenge

How do you manage an 11-acre, 39,000 square foot Canine Care Center features 28 kennels, exercise yards, a wellness clinic and grooming facility, along with separate kennels and play yards for puppies and try to reduce energy use and save on costs?

The Result

Enlisting the help of the PSEG Long Island Commercial Efficiency team is step one. Have a professional come in and evaluate your facility with a FREE Energy Assessment. Our trained professionals will make suggestions for you to review. Some suggestions could be simple and easy for you to do on your own. Other suggestions can require the help of a PSEG Long Island prime Efficiency Partner.

Utilizing rebates and incentives through the PSEG Energy Efficiency programs has enabled Canine Companions to lower the upfront costs of upgrades for indoor and outdoor lighting throughout and around the facility. Projects that might not have been within reach are now affordable. Reducing their energy bills gives Canine Companions the opportunity to invest in their programs, in the end providing service dogs at no cost to those in need. All of the lighting upgrades have contributed in reducing energy use at the facility ultimately bringing down overhead costs. Canine Companions used a PSEG Long Island Prime Efficiency Partner to install all of the lighting upgrades.
